Although no formal announcement has been made, it seems that Avianca El Salvador is interested in beginning flights between San Salvador, the capital of El Salvador, and Boston. TACA used to fly this path but terminated it. In 2013 TACA finished its merger with Avianca and became Avianca El Salvador. In January 2018's Avianca in-flight magazine the President and CEO of Avianca stated that they are beginning flights to Boston from San Salvador this year. It can be found on page 6 of the in-flight magazine found here. Avianca started flying Bogota to Boston in June 2017 so it will be interesting to see how they will add this route, and it's great to see TACA back in Boston although with a different name.
Virgin Atlantic Will Add a Second Daily Flight
Virgin Atlantic will be adding a second daily flight from Boston to London- Heathrow. Beginning March 31, 2019, the airline will operate a second flight from Boston on an Airbus A330-300. The interesting thing about the new flight is that it will be a day flight, departing Boston in the morning and arriving in London in the evening and returning late at night and staying at the airport overnight, as opposed to the majority of flights that leave Boston in the evening and arrive in Europe in the morning. There are very few routes from North America that operate on such a schedule. British Airways is the only other airline that operates morning flights from Boston. It is great to see Virgin Atlantic increasing its presence in Boston without adding service at the peak time for departures to Europe when Terminal E is cramped. Source: www.routesonline.com
