Boston Logan 2017 Statistics

Exciting news from Boston today, the December report for passenger, cargo, and aircrafts was released by Massport. In 2016 Boston Logan had 36,288,042 passengers and 616,933,699 pounds of cargo. In 2017 Boston Logan had 38,412,419 passengers and 679,407,977 pounds of cargo. This represents a 5.9% growth in passengers and 10.1% growth in the amount of cargo handled. In 2016 Boston Logan was the 17th busiest airport by passenger count in the US, ranking behind Minneapolis-Saint Paul and in front of Detroit Airport. 2017 saw Boston overtake Minneapolis to become the 16th busiest airport in the US. Of the 38 million passengers at Logan in 2017, 7,199,595 passengers flew internationally compared to 6,587,473 international passengers in 2016, which represents a 9.3% increase. Every continent Boston Logan has flights to saw an increase in passengers numbers except the Middle East which saw a small decline. South America saw 30,385 passengers from Boston in 2017, which is huge considering flights to South America began in the summer of 2017. Overall 2017 was a great year for Boston Logan, with new routes being announced and started, hopefully, 2018 will be an even more successful year for Boston's Airport.
