Air Canada and WestJet add Calgary flights

Air Canada and WestJet have announced flights to Boston from Calgary. Air Canada announced that they intend to operate the seasonal route from Calgary on an Airbus A319-100 beginning June 22, 2020, to September 6, 2020. The route will depart Calgary at 16:15 and will arrive in Boston at 22:46, while the return flight will depart Boston at 06:30 and will arrive in Calgary at 09:32. This announcement was followed up days later by WestJet's announcement of the seasonal route from Calgary to be operated daily on a Boeing 737-700, beginning May 14, 2020, and terminating October 12, 2020. The flight is scheduled to depart Calgary at 09:45 and arrive in Boston at 16:15, while the return flight will depart Boston at 17:00 and will arrive in Calgary at 20:15. I have long thought that a Boston to Calgary route was necessary for Boston, however, we are going from no flights to two daily flights. In the long run, I do not think that this sustainable, and I expect that one airline will end up backing out after one season. I hope that both airlines are successful with the new route, however, I think this route will have too much capacity considering the current demand.
